Great Moments in Moustaches: Hulk Hogan.
On January 23th, 1987, Hulk Hogan entered the ring at Madison Square Garden as an underdog. His opponent was none other than the reigning champion of the world, The Iron Sheik. Hogan, a last minute replacement for the double under hook suplex master, Bob Backlund, was thought to be no match for the Shiek’s cocaine induced Iranian rage.
At first the crowd snickered at the Hulkster’s gold attire, and particularly the matching blonde beauty that rest on his upper lip. But as he stuck his hand to his ear and listend in a highly exaggerated manner, the crowd’s cheers became overwhelming.
That night he claimed the WWF title, establishing himself as the first man ever to escape the Sheik’s signature Camel Clutch.
Hulkamanina was born, which culminated in the release of the above Japanese air conditioner commercial. Sunday comes again!
